October/November 2019 News

It’s been a very wet autumn so far, with a particularly wet and windy day last Saturday but nothing stops the Ripple Farm crowd. Wye Farmer’s Market went ahead but without tents - thanks to Clare on the Ripple stall and other stallholders who stood out in the wind and rain as well as to the customers that ventured out too. Then in the afternoon, as the weather got wilder, Martin, Ade and Ewan were out harvesting leeks for 3 hours – apparently there were a lot less people walking past than usual!

Farm Walk and Winner
We had a great turn out for our farm walk last Sunday thanks to the first dry day for weeks! Martin handed out sacks and got lots of help from the children digging huge parsnips and rabbit-nibbled carrots. Well done to Theresa O, who's winning guess of the weight of the pumpkin of 5.5kg was almost spot-on and gets her a free veggie box.

Cycle delivery in Wye
Isabelle and Andrew at ‘Velocity’ cycle couriers have been delivering our veggie boxes/bags around Canterbury for around 10 years now and we’ve finally taken the plunge to try deliveries around Wye using bike and trailer. The first 2 weeks went well with Sarah in the ‘cycling seat’ loading up the trailer with 5 or 6 veggie bags and boxes each time.
