It was great to see so many of our vegetable box scheme customers at our October 2021 Farm Walk, especially after no having one in 2020.
We met at the bottom of the fields at Wye but as we don't have the use of the workshop anymore we weren't able to offer refreshments and apple bobbing etc. That meant more time for walking, which was good as the cropping areas were quite far apart. The walk started in one of the areas sown with a grass/clover mix so Martin explained about our fertility building rotation. He then led the way to the potato ground for a spot of PYO potatoes, then to the kale beds, past the new hedge and onto the chard patch to hunt for the biggest chard leaf! We finished in the brassica field, looking at cabbage, swede, sprouts and broccoli as well as hunting for any squash that has been missed. And we had mild, dry weather so were lucky there.
